A goal is defined by Webster as “the end toward which effort is directed.” A goal gives you an idea of what will be the result of specific actions or behaviors. Many people have a vague idea of what it is they want to achieve in life, but very few spend the time and energy to plan for the successful achievement of those specific goals.

A goal does not become a goal until it is written down. Unwritten, a goal is only a dream or a wish. It is okay to dream and to wish, but why not take the dreams that mean the most to you and work at turning those dreams into realities?

The Jameson Study:

  1. John and Cathy began writing goals at a time when they needed to grow personally and professionally.

  2. They became more effective managers and gained “control of their lives” by writing goals.

  3. In one year the practice productivity had increased by 35%.

  4. Personal income had increased by about 100%.

  5. Growth had taken place during difficult economic times.

  6. Goal writing provided guidance, motivation, and focus needed for continuous success.

  7. Goal writing provides the key to gaining the right mindset and accomplishment of every worthwhile goal.
